Aim and Outcomes: This interactive course explores a range of safeguarding issues linked to Black African culture, belief, religion and the parenting styles of people of Black/African descent.
Participants will work in groups to examine case studies of related issues, enhancing their knowledge and understanding of how to identify and assess complex cases in order to better safeguard Black African children and within the context of understanding Black African cultural nuances.
At the end of the session, participants would have explored a range of cultural practices that can affect Black children and their families. Understand the links between physical chastisement, culture and religion. Demonstrate a better understanding of culture leading to increased skills level and confidence in working with Black children and families.
