Developing primary mathematicians: Lessons learnt from assessing the national curriculum in 2016

An exciting opportunity to hear from a nationally renowned expert in the field of mastery mathematics and two prominent practitioners who will be sharing their work based upon research.

Outline

This cross borough conference is a once in a lifetime opportunity for practitioners to hear and speak to three prominent experts in mathematics.

Description

The day will start with Declan Byrne, from the London SE Maths Hub, who will speak on variation. The second speaker is Jenny Cane, from Bursted Wood Primary School, who will speak about her work with Ian Benson and the use of Cuisenaire Rods. The third speaker is our keynote speaker, Dr Helen Drury who will first speak about mastery and then about how to provide challenge for the most able through depth, breadth and questioning.

Outcomes

You will come away from this conference inspired, motivated and equipped to provide challenge for the most able through breadth, depth and questioning in your school. You will also have a good understanding of what is meant by the term mastery and variation.

The conference is being held in a venue that has ample parking and public transport links and is accessible to the London Boroughs of Bexley, Bromley and Lewisham.
